Course proposal: Demographic trends in the twenty first century reflect a global pattern of declining rates of marriage and increasing numbers of single adults. We believe that there is a critical need to equip next-generation church leaders with a theological foundation that can help them better engage and address issues around marriage, singleness, sexuality and family for our current day, and equip them with the tools they need to meet the challenges they will face. The course will include: 1) A summary of current trends in marriage and singleness and reasons for them; 2) A redemptive-historical theology of marriage; 3) A redemptive-historical theology of singleness, offspring and family; 4) A biblical foundation for personhood, identity and sexuality; and 5) A biblical approach to marriage and singleness as equally valid callings in the body of Christ.
